Recently my husband and I decided to dedicate our daughter to the Lord. Before dedicating her it got me thinking more about why we do this. It’s not just a thing to get checked off the list as tradition. There is a great meaning to it. It’s essential to me as a parent because it’s says, “God, you made this child who is a gift and blessing. She belongs to you and we pray she lives a life devoted to you. It is also our job as parents to be that example and raise her up in your ways.” It is my prayer that she comes to know Jesus at a young age and follows him all the days of her life. I hope she finds her confidence in the Lord and uses the gifts he has stored in her for his glory.

“But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.”-Matthew 19:14
“I asked the LORD to give me this boy, and he has granted my request. Now I am giving him to the LORD, and he will belong to the LORD his whole life.” And they worshiped the LORD there.” –1 Samuel 1:27-28
