While visiting San Francisco I turned on the news station called KTVU which was featuring a special guest named MJ Marrggraff. She had a fascinating story to share that got me thinking about something important in life.
MJ had a life planner book she used everyday, but one day she lost the book and it never appeared again. At first she stressed because all of her life plans were written down in there. She then went and bought a new planner; starting with a clean slate. Then she asked herself, do I refill this? Or do I forget these plans that have kept me from going after my dreams I have never gone after? It turned out losing her planner was one of the best things that happened to her because she decide to go after her dream to fly planes and go to space.
What this got me thinking about was letting go of the self made life plans we don’t go to God about and allowing Jesus to show us what he has in store before picking up the pen. MJ loosing her planner set her free from a life that was not horrible but brought her to a place of true happiness and passion. A life without Jesus could feel comfortable and just an everyday lifestyle we get used to. When we find him we see there is so much more meaning to life than just being fine with where we are at.
Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t get a planner book. I have one! it’s great. I just like the analogy. There is freedom in stepping out of our comfort zone and doing what God calls us to do. But within each day allow Christ be the one to pick up the pen and flip the pages. Stay in his will.
We can make our own plans, but the LORD gives the right answer. People may be pure in their own eyes, but the LORD examines their motives. Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.” -Proverbs 16:1-3
